Navy SEAL ASVAB is the Armed Services Vocational Attitude Battery test. It is a multiple choice test. This test is conducted by the US Military Entrance Processing Command for determining the qualification of the candidate in enlisting for the US armed forces. If a person aspires to become a Navy SEAL, he should pass not only the Physical Screening Test of the US Navy, but also the ASVAB test. The questions focus on the ability of the candidate in applying the knowledge learned by him in past experiences that are related to mathematics, verbal content, and science.

In the ASVAB Test, the candidate should score a minimum of 165 in General Science + Mechanical Comprehension + Electronics Information. Further, he should score a minimum of 220 in Verbal Expression + Mechanical Knowledge + Mechanical Comprehension + Coding Speed. Further, the ASVAB test is a series of 10 mini tests. These tests are conducted by the Department of Defense. They are listed below.

* Word Knowledge
* Paragraph Comprehension
* Mathematics Knowledge
* Arithmetic Reasoning
* General Science
* Auto and Shop Information
* Mechanical Comprehension
* Electronics Information
* Numerical Operations
* Coding Speed

About 200 questions are asked on the above subjects in ASVAB test. The general science test would consist of 25 questions that should be answered within 11 minutes. The questions could cover physical and biological sciences. In the arithmetic reasoning test, the candidate must solve 30 arithmetic questions in 36 minutes. The questions would cover the basic additions, subtractions, multiplications, and divisions. In the word knowledge section, the candidate should complete 25 questions in 11 minutes. The questions would require the candidate to write the meaning of the terms presented to him.

The mechanical comprehension and auto/shop test would have 25 questions that should be answered within 19 minutes and 25 questions that should be answered in 11 minutes, respectively. The candidate should have knowledge and practical exposure towards mechanical devices, engine operations and maintenance. In the mathematics test, 35 questions should be completed in 11 minutes. The problems would cover Algebra I and II level math. This is one of the toughest sections. In the reading comprehension test, 15 questions should be completed in 13 minutes. This test would cover various topics. The electronics section would contain 20 questions that should be answered in 9 minutes. This test would focus on electricity, electronics, parallel circuits, resistance values, and other physics related subjects.

When the candidate completes these tests, the scores for each of the 10 sections and the composite score would be calculated. If the candidate is not enlisted, he might be required to take the ASVAB test several times. If he scores high enough to qualify for enlisting but not high enough to obtain the Navy SEAL Challenge Contract, he could retake the ASVAB test until he qualifies for the contract.

The candidate could request the recruiter for a pre-ASVAB test to understand the strengths and weaknesses. Once they are analyzed and estimated, he would be able to concentrate on increasing his strengths and removing the weaknesses. Several books are available on ASVAB test that the candidate could buy online. In the United States, these books might be available in the high school library or in public library. The local book stores would also stock books on ASVAB test.
