Little is known about the Peru Special Forces. Peru has a Navy, Air Force and Army that report to the Ministry of Defense. The National Police of Peru are considered to be somewhat of a special forces team that combat terrorism and report to the National Police of Peru. They are known as the PNP and consist of several units that enforce domestic laws.

The PNP was formed from the Republican Guard of Peru. It is considered to be more of a police force than a special operations unit, although it is one of the largest in the world and those who are members of this force are trained in special operations.

Membership to the PNP is largely unknown, although there are 140,000 troops in this group that consist of land, water and air units as well as commando units.
