To whom it may concern,

I have listened to a few people I know claim that they were in the service and more specificaly claim that they are Former U.S. Navy Seals for a couple of months to years now. I told my neighbor, who is an OIF U.S. Navy veteran about it. After listening to what I had to say he became concerned about the matter; and very offended about these individuals were making these claims. After first telling me that such claims and behaviors go against the core values of the Navy and the Marine Corps; He then directed me to your web site and told me about the Stolen Valor Act. My Neighbor told me that it is against the law to claim to be a Navy Seal or to impersonate any military or government official in any fashion. Is there means to procecute these individuals under the law? If there is; who do I contact about this matter.

Sincerely,
Christine Toney,

To whom it may concern,

I have been married to my husband for almost 4 years now. He was in the Navy a long time ago (I was AF). I have seen his "yearbook" and his BMT materials and Fireman's training books, but he very adamantly proclaims to have been a SEAL. Even after reading this article I am still not sure how to tell if it is true or not. He does not always boast about it, but I have never seen or heard any proof from him that he in fact was a SEAL. I have never seen any medals, heard of any missions, etc. He was a heavy alcoholic when we met and used to blame his drinking on "things he has seen and done that would make your blood turn cold". I am afraid to confront him about it, but I cannot stand the thought of being married to someone who may or may not be lying about such a thing. Coming from a military background it is a very frustrating and dishonorable thing for someone to fake being a member of such an elite force. Is there any other signs that I can look for to discover the truth of whether or not he was truly a NAVY SEAL?
